Invitation to Insight

My best friends from home <3

The two people i interviewed were Jen and my Mom. Jen is the daughter of my parents friends. I've known her my whole life and she is also my brother's tutor. I interviewed my mom and she has known me my whole life plus some.

The strength that they said I had in communicating was being able to adapt well in a situation. Being in a new environment never stopped me from having a problem communicating. Also they said I am always interested in talking to people and am involved in the conversation itself.

A weakness was that I usually talk a lot. I can also say too much at once. They mentioned that I sometimes just want to talk about myself and get carried away with not listening. They said that I could improve on not saying too much and also just thinking a little bit before I start saying something I could regret.

I knew that I tend to say too much. It's a little weird to hear that talking so much can be a bad thing but I understood where they were coming from when they said it. I already knew that I am an open minded person. It was good to hear that I adapt well in situations, it gives me confidence when going to a new place.

I plan on thinking more before I speak. Trying not to say to much and just listening more and even being more involved in conversations.

My Hopes For Vienna

Franklin Pierce in Vienna, some hopes for me, some hopes for everyone else and some fears.

For my classmates I hope the best. I want everyone to get as much out the trip as they hoped to get out of it and more. I hope everyone gets along; it will be a long 3 months if there is conflict.

My hopes for Heather and Tom, I hope that you both have an enjoyable time as well. I think that not only is it a trip for the students but also an experience for you.

When thinking of what I hope for myself I would have to say that I want to do as much as I can. Travel as often as money and time allows and just enjoy getting wrapped up in a new culture. I want to do something that I may never get another chance to do. I hope to come out of this knowing more of who I am as a person and growing from the experience.

The things that I am nervous about, hmmm, well I’m nervous about being away from home for 3 months without being able to go home on weekends. I get nervous about little things as well such as losing my luggage, getting lost in a foreign country, running out of money and the weight limit on luggage. I’m nervous about being a larger city; going from being in Rindge to a European city is going to be a lot different and that’s something to worry about. Another issue that doesn’t seem like it should even be an issue is my security blanket (image below). I have a major fear of losing it. It does sound silly but it’s serious to me. I’ve had this blanket my whole life and I can’t go 3 months without it but losing it would be worse. So as of right now I’m thinking of the possibility of cutting it in half, leaving half in the U.S. and taking the other half abroad. I don’t know if I will cut it in half but it’s still a few weeks before leaving.

It’s going to be an awesome trip. I can’t wait!
